Engine Timing

Your Desert Aircraft motor's timing can be set quickly using a 3/32 hex driver and a marker.

1. Use a marker to mark the hub in line with the left side of the magnet on the hub when viewed from the front of the motor- this will help with setting the timing as the magnet will be covered by the sensor:

2. Rotate the hub to set the piston(s) to Top Dead Center (TDC).

3. Loosen the 3/32 stainless bolts on the sensor, align molded timing mark on sensor with the left side of the magnet when viewed from the front of the motor, ensuring the piston(s) stay at TDC. Re-tighten sensor bolts good and snug ensuring the sensor stays aligned.

Note about timing: Advancing or Retarding the sensor timing can cause performance issues, Desert Aircraft does not recommend altering the ignition timing from factory. The marker can be cleaned off of your hub using carburetor cleaner or rubbing alcohol.
