Sanctioned by the Academy of Model Aeronautics, Sanction #04-1784.

The contest will be conducted using 2002-2004 AMA RC Scale Aerobatics rules, with exceptions and clarifications as noted below. The 2004 IMAC Known Sequences will be flown. Rules and sequences are available at www.mini-iac.com under Rules.

The Tucson Aerobatic Shootout will NOT be part of the IMAC Southwest Regional Point Series.

Registration is closed for the 2004 Tucson Aerobatic Shootout.

All pilots are required to pre-register online with the Intent To Register web form and to fill out the Official Entry Application. This entry application and the entry fee MUST be mailed to the Contest Director before a pilot will be accepted for entry in the Shootout.

Entry fee fully refundable until October 1. After October 1 refunds will be made only if a replacement pilot is successfully registered.

Contest entry is limited. Entry application postmark date will influence priority of acceptance.

All pilots will be expected to judge, scribe, etc. All pilots must be present and flying and/or working Sunday to receive contest prizes (e.g., cash/merchandise).

Starting Procedures
Pilots must be "on deck" at least four deep at all times. You will have two (2) minutes to start when told to do so by our Line Boss. If you can't get started in that time, you will be moved to the back of the flight order in that round. If you can't get started then, you zero all sequences for the round.

Scoring
Normalized scoring will be used for all rounds, this includes knowns, unknowns and four-minute free. This normalization will be performed before scores are dropped.

Scoring will be cumulative. That is, scores from all rounds (beginning with Thursday) will be used to determine each elimination, as well as the winner on Sunday.

Judging
We will try to have three judges on each flight line. If this is possible, judges will not confer on zeros. Two zeros will become three zeros. One zero will be replaced by the average of the other two scores. If a judge misses a figure, the score will be marked as "N.O." (Not Observed). The score for that figure will then be an average of the remaining scores. All such scoring adjustments shall be accomplished in the scoring booth by the official scorekeeper. Please be advised that the judging line and scoring booth will be off limits to all competitors. If you have a question or concern, contact the CD.

Pilot Order of Flight
The pilot list will follow the same order each round. The first pilot for the first round will be chosen at random. After that, the first pilot will be 15% down the list from the previous first pilot.

Trim Flights
There will be no practice flights on contest mornings. If for some reason you feel a trim flight is necessary, contact the CD for approval.

Sound Rules
We will not be doing dB checks. We will be assigning a Sound Score for each sequence per AMA RC Scale Aerobatics rules. We will not disqualify pilots based on noise scores.

Zoneless Box/Positioning Score
We will be using the Zoneless Box rules and assigning a Positioning Score for each sequence per the 2005-2006 AMA RC Scale Aerobatics proposed rules. The rules may be viewed at www.mini-iac.com under Rules/Proposed Rule Changes.

Four-Minute Freestyle
We will be using the proposed 2005-2006 AMA RC Scale Aerobatics judging criteria for the four-minute freestyle program. The judging criteria can be accessed HERE. The deadline is the far edge of the runway. More specifically, the aircraft shall not fly over the pavement except for during take off and landing. Additionally, all personnel shall remain on the pavement. Violations will result in a zero for the flight.
